Yellow-tailed Black- Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus) Other names: Funeral Cockatoo, Wylah || Occurring in family groups of up to twenty individuals they feed on insect larvae and seeds, mainly in Eucalypt forests. Australian Brush-turkey (Aletura lathami) Other names: Scrub Turkey || The male brush turkey builds a mound up to a meter in height to incubate the eggs the female laid into it. Immediatley after the chicks are hatched they are independent and grow up by themselves. Adults can reach 70 cm in height and live mainly on the forest floor, but have some flight ability to escape or roost in trees. Distribution: Australia's East Coast N NSW to N QLD.

The images to the left show an immature Collared Sparrowhawk Accipiter cirrhocephalus, a small bird of prey with a wingspan of about 30 cm. It is a swift hunter preying mostly on other birds up to the size of a bowerbird and prefers forested areas as a habitat. Distribution is Australia wide except for open and arid inland areas.
